Applications Open: Become a Green Champion 2026
The Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) at SIMAD University is excited to announce that applications are now open for the Green Champions Cohort 2026.
Green Champions is more than a volunteer programme. It is a competitive leadership and capacity-building initiative that equips passionate university students with the knowledge, practical skills, mentorship, and professional networks needed to become leaders in environmental sustainability and climate action.
Climate change is no longer a distant challenge. It is already affecting Somalia through prolonged droughts, floods, environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, food insecurity, and displacement. Addressing these challenges requires a new generation of young leaders who are informed, innovative, and committed to building resilient communities.
That is why ICE established Green Champions—to identify and nurture students with the passion and potential to become changemakers on campus, in their communities, and across Somalia.
