Reflecting on the ChangemakerXchange Summit 2023 in Rwanda
From September 18th to 22nd, 2023, we had the incredible opportunity to attend the ChangemakerXchange Summit in the serene and picturesque setting of Rwamagana, Rwanda. This summit brought together dedicated young social innovators from Sub-Saharan Africa, and it was a transformative experience that left a profound mark on us all.
One of the focus of the summit was to explore synergies among participants. As our Director, Mohamed Okash,was among the few selected social innovators and climate leaders, the event provided a platform for connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for positive change. The first two days were dedicated to expanding our personal and professional networks, and it was inspiring to meet so many change-makers committed to making the world a better place.
Day three was all about exchanging knowledge, expertise, tools, and resources to amplify our impact at the systemic level. The sessions were enlightening, and we learned valuable insights that will undoubtedly shape our future endeavours. Discussing how to tackle the pressing issue of climate change in Africa and positioning the continent on the global stage was a highlight for Mr. Okash. On the fourth day, the summit encouraged us to explore synergies and develop new collaboration ideas. The importance of working together to enhance the impact of our projects became abundantly clear. The summit also prioritized personal and team sustainability, offering strategies to prevent burnout and cultivate well-being. This holistic approach ensures that changemakers can continue their vital work without sacrificing their own health and happiness.
The event was hosted by ChangemakerXchange, a global community that provides safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for changemakers. Their vision of creating inclusive communities dedicated to the well-being of people and the planet resonated deeply with all participants. It was evident that the summit was meticulously planned and executed, providing a perfect environment for learning, networking, and growth.
Our Director, Mohamed Okash, expressed his enthusiasm for the summit, highlighting the incredible venues that provided a calm and green atmosphere ideal for such meaningful discussions. Hosting Open Space technologies sessions on Climate Change in Africa allowed him to engage in essential conversations about Africa’s role on the global stage. His sentiments echo the overall success of the summit.
Finally, the ChangemakerXchange Summit in Rwanda was an immense success, leaving us inspired and motivated to continue our journey as changemakers. We look forward to future engagements with the ChangemakerXchange community and believe that the connections made and knowledge gained during this summit will be instrumental in creating a better future for both people and the planet.
