Green Champions: Meet the Inaugural Class of 2023
The Green Champions at ICE Institute of SIMAD University is a dedicated student volunteer club comprised of young individuals who share a common passion for the environment, sustainability, and climate action. This yearly cohort-based network selects young volunteers from the student body, providing them with a unique platform to contribute actively to environmental causes and make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
The primary goal of the Green Champions is to advocate and drive the green transformation for Somalia. By aligning their efforts with key national and international frameworks such as the Somali National Youth Development Plan, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement, the volunteers are committed to creating meaningful and sustainable change within their country.

The selected volunteers receive training, workshops, and educational resources that empower them with the necessary knowledge and skills to become effective advocates and leaders in the field of environmental conservation.
