Green Champions: The Class of 2025
The Institute of Climate and Environment (ICE) at SIMAD University is delighted to announce the selection of a new cohort of 10 Green Champions for 2025.
Chosen through an open and competitive application process, these ten young people represent diverse programs across SIMAD University — a true reflection of the creativity, innovation, and energy of our student community.
Since its launch in 2023, the Green Champions program has become a flagship initiative of ICE, engaging students who are passionate about climate action and environmental sustainability. Previous cohorts have played a vital role in advancing ICE’s mission through research, data collection, event management, and outreach activities — and this new cohort will continue to build on that legacy.
As Green Champions, the 2025 cohort will:
- Support Research & Data Collection – contributing to ICE’s evidence-based studies and climate monitoring.
- Contribute to Event Management – helping organize forums, symposiums, and awareness campaigns.
- Lead Outreach Programs – engaging fellow students and local communities in sustainability initiatives.
- Grow as Leaders – receiving mentorship, training, and opportunities to connect with national and international networks.
At ICE, we believe that youth are at the center of climate solutions. Guided by our values of integrity, innovation, inclusivity, and impact, the Green Champions embody the spirit of service and leadership needed to build a greener Somalia.
We warmly welcome this new team of changemakers to the ICE family. Together, we will amplify local voices, foster innovation, and drive meaningful climate action.
