About Green Champions
The Green Champions at ICE Institute of SIMAD University is a dedicated student volunteer club comprised of young individuals who share a common passion for the environment, sustainability, and climate action. This yearly cohort-based network selects young volunteers from the student body, providing them with a unique platform to contribute actively to environmental causes and make a positive impact on their communities and beyond. The primary goal of the Green Champions is to advocate and drive the green transformation for Somalia. By aligning their efforts with key national and international frameworks such as the Somali National Youth Development Plan, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the Paris Agreement, the volunteers are committed to creating meaningful and sustainable change within their country.
As a Green Champion, you’ll receive:
A. Training and Workshops: Gain knowledge and skills to become an effective advocate and leader in environmental conservation.
B. Networking Opportunities: Connect with like-minded individuals, experts, and professionals from various sectors.
C. Mentorship: Learn from seasoned environmentalists, professors, and experienced individuals in the sustainability sector.
D. Community Outreach: Translate your learning into action through well-planned and targeted community outreach activities and campaigns.
Selection Criteria
1. Be a Senior Student at SIMAD University
2. Fluent in English
3. Willing to Volunteer
4. Ability to Work with a Team
5. Interest in Sustainability and Climate Action
